A Message to the APC
February 18th, 2008 Posted in UncategorizedMembers of the Anti-Poverty Committee stepped up their Olympic activism yesterday by defacing the countdown clock.
By the end of their protest at the Vancouver Art Gallery, the APC - known for its clashes with authorities - splattered yellow paint across the 2010 countdown clock as Vancouver police looked on.
No arrests were made at the scene.
“This is just the beginning,” APC organizer Thomas Malenfant warned after he glued an anti-Olympic poster on the clock. “We will not tolerate this anymore.” - Matt Kieltyka, 24 Hours
I have to get something off my chest because this just irritates me. What is the Anti-Poverty Committee proving by doing all of this? They have little reason to do this kind of crap; are they going to prevent the 2010 Olympics from happening? Nope. Are they sending the right message for anyone else who fights poverty? No. Are they driving up costs for cleaning up the defacing of Olympic property?
This is getting really out of hand. Not long ago, someone stole the official Olympic flag. Before that, there have been several protests which have led to numerous arrests. Wake up, people. You’re not going to stop the Olympics from happening. As opposed to spending their time dedicated to making the government have a rough time, maybe they should actually go out and find a job so they don’t have to worry about poverty.

i completely and utterly agree
i was talking to someone else about this and ur right - they’re not gonna STOP the olympics from COMING!!! if they think it’s gonna stop the olympics from ever coming back AFTERWARDS than fine make that ur goal but don’t expect the whole world to have to change location - there’s a reason why a city is chosen so much earlier before the olympics!!!! gosh it’s dumb
