Round 3 Playoff Predictions

May 15th, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized

It was a low-scoring second round after Chicago, Carolina and Pittsburgh all pulled off upsets to advance to the Conference finals; everyone had Vancouver pegged to defeat the Blackhawks and only Dave Roberts had predicted correctly that Carolina would defeat Boston. It was roughly a split down the middle between Detroit and Pittsburgh, with yours truly, Kyle Gagan, Jack, Ray Ray Superstar, Raph, Leon and Hosea correctly picking both teams. Gio and Vic were also held pointless in the second round. The only person to correctly guess a series was myself with Pittsburgh defeating Washington in seven games with Bill Guerin getting the series winner.

Here are the updated standings through the second round:

  1. Matt Lee with 17 points
  2. Kyle Gagan with 16 points
  3. Leon and Tranucks with 15 points
  4. Chad Klassen with 14 points
  5. Jack, Ray Ray Superstar with 13 points
  6. Hosea with 12 points
  7. Alex Strohschein and Hora with 11 points
  8. Raph with 10 points
  9. Shawn and Dave Roberts with 9 points
  10. Vic with 8 points
  11. Gio with 7 points
  12. Hei Wang with 6 points
  13. Andy with 4 points

The third round scoring system will be even higher this round, with an added point for each prediction. The scoring system is as follows:

  1. You score THREE POINTS for correctly guessing the winning team for each series.
  2. You score THREE POINTS for correctly guessing the amount of games the team won in.
  3. You score FOUR POINTS for correctly guessing which player scores the winning goal in the deciding game.

This is still anybody’s race; if you can correctly predict a series perfectly you could find yourself in contention or pulling away from the pack. Good luck to everyone!
